October 22, 2001 (Guelph, Ontario) – 4-H Horse Club members from across the province will be coming to the Royal Winter Fair, Toronto, on Monday, November 5th to participate in a special Horse Club program, which will include judging and showmanship clinics and a chance to explore the Royal Winter Fair.

The program held at the GM Truck Cavalcade of Horses will start with a showmanship clinic, with one of North America’s top professional showman. A showmanship demonstration by 4-H horse club members will provide an example of how to put the tips into practice. An interactive judging clinic with a top Canadian horse judge will provide the participants with tips on judging and experience in using their new skills. A chance to see the sights and sounds of the “Royal” and to meet other horse club members will enhance an already jam-packed fun day.

A generous donation by the Ontario Horse Racing Industry Association (OHRIA) makes this new 4-H Horse Club Project Day at the Royal possible. OHRIA last year donated $100,000 to the Ontario 4-H Foundation to initiate, stimulate and support 4-H Horse programs in Ontario.

4-H members who pre-register for the program by October 29th will receive a 4-H item from the new “4-H Mini-Store”. For further details on the “4-H Horse Club Project Day at the Royal!” visit the 4-H Ontario website at www.4-hontario.ca or call 1-877-410-6748.

As an informal educational program, 4-H helps young people, 10 to 21 years of age, to develop personal skills while learning about a topic of interest to them. Almost 8,000 members and 2,000 volunteers took part in over 1,200 clubs across Ontario last year.
