WOODSTOCK, ON — Woodstock Raceway wraps up another steamy Ontario Sires Stakes season on Saturday afternoon with seven $15,000 Grassroots divisions for the three-year-old trotting colts.

Leading the talented colts into the second half of their Grassroots season is I’m Classy, bred and owned by Lorena Chapple of Harley.

“I’m very happy with him,” says Chapple, who entrusts the colt’s day-to-day care to trainer Wayne Langille of Harley and son Bev Chapple of Ingersoll. “I don’t get near the horses much any more,” she adds. “I leave all that up to Wayne and my son.”

I’m Classy heads into the Woodstock event off an impressive third-place finish from the outside Post 7 in Hanover Raceway’s $100,000 Dream Of Glory Final on Aug. 5. The Eager Seelster son, who captured the Balanced Image stake at Hanover as a two-year-old, qualified for the lucrative final with a 1:59.2 victory in his July 29 elimination.

Through the first three Grassroots events I’m Classy boasts a flawless record of three wins for a total of 150 points and a share of the division lead. Making a total of 13 starts the gelding has posted five wins and three thirds this season for earnings of $51,001. His personal best came in his sophomore debut on April 13 Flamboro Downs, where he cruised to a six and three-quarter length victory in 1:58.3.

Regular reinsman Gordon Rayner will pilot I’m Classy from the advantageous Post 1 in the sixth race on Saturday, facing off against a field of four Grassroots veterans and two newcomers to provincial action.

I’m Classy shares the division lead with Heaven And Hall, who makes his bid for a fourth straight Grassroots triumph from Post 3 in the fourth race. Trained by Susanne Kerwood for Hyatt Holdings Inc. and Canamerica Capital Corp. of Milton, Heaven And Hall finished third to I’m Classy in the July 29 Dream Of Glory eliminations, then returned to the Hanover oval to claim the consolation on Aug. 5 and finish second in an overnight event on Aug. 12.

Through 10 starts this season the Angus Hall son boasts a record of six wins, one second and two thirds for earnings of $42,979. Brad Forward will pilot Heaven And Hall on Saturday and will be keeping an eye out for City Of London Series winner The Swing King from Post 4.

Woodstock Raceway’s Saturday afternoon program gets under way at 1 pm and fans will be treated to outstanding Grassroots action from the three-year-old trotting colts in Races 3 through 9.
