GLOUCESTER, ON — Michelles Power led a parade of Camluck daughters across the wire at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Thursday evening to capture the last $130,000 Gold Final of the season for the two-year-old pacing fillies.

With Sylvain Filion in the race bike for the second straight week, Michelles Power sprinted away from Post 1 and had established a one length lead before she hit the quarter in :27.4. Filion and Michelles Power maintained their one length margin through the :57 half and 1:25.3 three-quarters, extended it to three lengths around the final turn, and then settled for a one and three-quarter length victory in 1:54.4.

Rosapenna closed well to claim the runner-up’s share of the Ontario Sires Stakes purse and Quail Seelster, owned by William MacQuarrie’s 1187422 Ontario Inc. of Gloucester, delivered the fastest last quarter in the race to come within a breath of catching Rosapenna at the wire. Both fillies are also daughters of leading Ontario pacing sire Camluck.

The win was the fifth of the season for the consistent Michelles Power, who has only missed the top three twice in her 15 race career. In addition to Thursday’s Gold Final trophy, the daughter of Camluck and $695,439 winner Michelles Jackpot captured a division of the Champlain Stakes at Mohawk Racetrack on Sept. 8, Gold Eliminations at Windsor Raceway on July 30 and Grand River Raceway on July 3 and her racing debut in an overnight event at Flamboro Downs on June 17.

Jeffrey Snyder of New York, NY bred and owns the talented young pacer, who has earned $329,019 in her freshman season, and Bruce Goit handles training duties.

With a total of 237 points, Michelles Power wraps up the regular season in second spot in the two-year-old pacing filly Gold Series rankings, 75 points behind three-time Gold Final winner Luck Of Michelle. The top 10 point earners from the division will now begin preparations for the $300,000 Super Final at Woodbine Racetrack on Oct. 14, part of an outstanding $2.4 million evening that showcases the remarkable depth of talent in the Ontario Sires Stakes program.

Ottawa and area fans will have one more opportunity to see the two-year-old pacing fillies in action when they arrive in town for their second last Trillium Series event on Thursday, Oct. 26.
