ELORA, ON — Of the three Trillium Series divisions that went postward at Grand River Raceway on Monday evening, only one saw the fans’ top choice make a visit to the winner’s circle.

J M Aggie was sent off as the heavy favourite in the first $23,970 Trillium division and the Carl Jamieson trainee proved that she deserved the honour, trotting home to an effortless three length victory over Tymal Timeout and Fabtowin.

In the race bike for his partners, 1140545 Ontario Ltd. of Cambridge, Jamieson sent J M Aggie straight to the front from Post 2, and the pair laid down fractions of :29.3, 1:00.3 and 1:29.4 on their way to the 2:00 victory.

A Gold Elimination winner as a two-year-old, J M Aggie prepped for her sophomore debut with a pair of wins in qualifying action, and a fourth-place finish against older horses at Woodbine Racetrack on May 3. The Angus Hall daughter will return to Gold Series action on June 23 at Georgian Downs.

Jamieson also tried to steal the show in the second Trillium division with Disco Inferno, but the sprint from Post 8 to the front caught up with the filly in the stretch and she was forced to settle for a third-place showing behind Emerald Whisper and Delcrestclassyhall.

Bruce Richardson and Emerald Whisper tracked the pacesetter through the mile, then slipped out in the stretch to claim a one length victory in 2:01.1. Trained by Susanne Kerwood for Dr. Patrick Meyers of Rockwood and Mary Devos and the Devos Stable of Langton, the win marked the Earl daughter’s first ever visit to the winner’s circle and improved on the second and third-place finishes she delivered in her first two starts of the season.

The final Trillium division went to Arthur residents Wayne and Trevor Henry, who teamed up to land Powerline Mesa her first win of the season. The Balanced Image miss delivered an impressive effort, circling three-wide at the three-quarters around a stalling Jayportcashforlife, and then accelerating down the stretch to claim the one length victory over Paris Oaks and Whitesand Electra.

Trevor Henry piloted the Balanced Image daughter to the 2:01.1 triumph for owner-breeders NGA Powerline of Brantford. A Grassroots Semifinal winner as a two-year-old, Powerline Mesa will have to choose between the June 23 Gold Series and the June 9 Grassroots event at Hanover Raceway.

Grassroots excitement is next up on the menu at Grand River Raceway, who will play host to the talented three-year-old pacing fillies on July 13.
