GLOUCESTER, ON — Shake That Junk earned her second two-year-old pacing filly Gold Final crown with a rock solid effort at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Sunday evening.

With regular reinsman and part owner Jody Jamieson in the race bike, Shake That Junk eased off the starting gate from Post 1 and was sitting third on the outside when Lilbitfasternow reached the :27.2 opening quarter. Lilbitfasternow was still on the engine at the :56.1 half, and Jamieson had dropped Shake That Junk in behind the pacesetter, leaving Style Semalu alone on the outside.

At the 1:24.4 three-quarters, Style Semalu was giving Lilbitfasternow a run for her money, All Accounted For was trying to circle three-wide around the pair of them, and Shake That Junk was still sitting serenely in the pocket. By the time the field straightened out for home, Maddam Luck had pushed her way to a one length win, but Jamieson was just getting Shake That Junk started.

Kicking into gear down the stretch, fan favourite Shake That Junk pulled away to a one and three-quarter length victory over Maddam Luck and All Accounted For, stopping the clock at 1:55.

Cambridge resident Jamieson shares ownership on the talented Shake That Junk with trainer James “Friday” Dean of Campbellville, Dr. David Powell of Campbellville and P and J Stable of Mississauga. Through 11 starts the consistent young pacer has amassed a record of four wins, one second and three thirds for earnings of $255,384, well over the $72,000 US her owners shelled out at last fall’s Harrisburg Yearling Sale.

Among the Camluck daughter’s victories are last week’s elimination at Rideau Carleton, where she clocked a personal best 1:54.3, a division of the Robert Stewart Stakes at Mohawk in August and the Aug. 6 Gold Final at Grand River Raceway.

With a total of 211 points, Shake That Junk had already locked up her spot in the season ending Super Final at Woodbine Racetrack. The top 10 point earners from the five regular season Gold Series events will battle in the $300,000 Super Final on Nov. 10.

The two-year-old pacing fillies have one last opportunity to earn points toward the Super Final. Their last regular season skirmish goes postward on Oct. 18 and 25 at Hiawatha Horse Park.

Ontario Sires Stakes action makes one last stop in Ottawa this season when the remarkable two-year-old trotting fillies make their way to Rideau Carleton Raceway on Friday, Nov. 16 for the second of three Trillium events on their late season calendar.
