WINDSOR, ON — Arts Diva cruised to an effortless victory at Windsor Raceway on Sunday evening to add a Trillium Series title to her list of freshman season accomplishments.

The two-year-old pacing filly and driver Paul MacDonell accelerated off the starting gate from Post 3 and were sitting second when local filly St Lads Seraph, owned by trainer Sandra Spencer and Kathleen Brogan of Windsor, reached the opening quarter in :26.4. MacDonell quickly sent the heavy favourite after the lead and Arts Diva easily sailed by the early leader to a :56 half.

MacDonell stepped up the pace heading to the :1:24.4 three-quarters and maintained a sharp tempo around the final turn before coasting down the stretch without facing a challenge. Go Get Her, owned by Michael Cecile of Windsor, picked up the runner-up’s share of the $91,096 Trillium purse and Intended To Fly closed smartly to finish third.

The 1:53.4 victory marked Arts Diva’s third trip to the winner’s circle this season in 11 starts. The Art Major daughter has also amassed four runner-up finishes, two thirds and earnings of $241,788. Among the filly’s other successes this season were a win in the Oct. 19 Three Diamonds Elimination at Woodbine Racetrack and a second in the $660,200 Three Diamonds final on Oct. 27.

Ken Sucee trains Arts Diva for breeder Dr. David Legge of Ajax and Brian Legge of Toronto, who bought the filly back from last fall’s Harrisburg Yearling Sale for $20,000 US.

The two-year-old pacing fillies have two more Trillium Series events on their schedule this fall, Nov. 17 at Georgian Downs and Nov. 27 at Kawartha Downs.

Sunday’s contest wrapped up Windsor Raceway’s 2007 Ontario Sires Stakes schedule, which saw new track records established by three-year-old trotting filly division leader Carolyn AS (1:56) and two-year-old trotting colt sensation Windsong Espoir (1:56). The provincial program will return to the border oval next season with a fresh crop of pacers and trotters eager to make their mark on the Ontario Sires Stakes stage.
