DUNDAS, ON — In spite of starting from Post 7, two-year-old pacing filly Its No Secret was able to defend her Gold Final title at Flamboro Downs on Friday evening.

With Guelph resident Anthony MacDonald in the race bike, Its No Secret fired away from the starting gate and dropped onto the rail behind fan favourite Kims Royal Day, who stepped out to a :27.2 opening quarter. The fillies continued along in that order to a :57.1 half and then were joined by the first up Raise Your Glass.

Driver Billy Davis Jr. and Kims Royal Day battled Raise Your Glass and Scott Zeron to a 1:25.4 three-quarters, refusing to yield to the challenger, but they paid the price in the stretch when MacDonald asked Its No Secret for another gear. Sliding effortlessly by the leaders, Its No Secret powered home to a five and one-half length victory in 1:55.1.

Kims Royal Day settled for the runner-up spot, her third time serving as bridesmaid in a Gold Final, and Prynne Hanover got up for third. Raise Your Glass took home the fourth-place share of the $130,000 Gold Final and Best Impressions completed the money earners in fifth.

The win was the third straight for Its No Secret, who also captured the Sept. 14 Gold Final at Grand River Raceway and her elimination last week at Flamboro. The talented Badlands Hanover daughter now boasts a record of six wins, two seconds and one third in nine starts for earnings of $251,500 and has vaulted over Kims Royal Day to claim top spot in the freshman pacing filly point standings.

Shawn Robinson conditions Its No Secret for owner-breeder Robert Hamather of Exeter. The filly is a second generation product of Hamather’s breeding program and counts among her half-siblings $301,494 winner Bona Fide X Ample and $242,070 winner Run Tim Run.

Its No Secret and her freshman pacing filly peers have one regular season Gold Series event remaining on their calendar — Oct. 6 and 13 at Georgian Downs — before the top 10 point earners begin preparations for the season ending Super Final on Nov. 10 at Woodbine Racetrack.

Flamboro Downs will host the final Gold Series event for the three-year-old pacing colts, welcoming the Ontario Sires Stakes program’s heavyweights to Dundas on Oct. 5 and 12.
