GLOUCESTER, ON — Burning Point scored an impressive Gold Final victory at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Sunday evening, extending her win streak to five with an effortless 1:53.3 score.

Leaving from Post 3, the Camluck daughter and driver Kevin Wallis assumed command of the race just past the :27.3 opening quarter posted by early leader Northern Harmony. Burning Point continued to roll through fractions of :55.3 and 1:24.2, then pulled away from the field of three-year-old pacing fillies to post the two length triumph.

Please Me Please delivered an gritty effort from Post 8 to land second-place honours in the $130,000 contest and Jasper Avenue was just a half length behind her in third.

Third choice Please Me Please delivered $3.20 to place and $2.20 to show, while second choice Jasper Avenue paid $2.80. An exactor combining the two elimination winners paid $7.70, and adding former Gold Final winner Jasper Avenue to the mix increased the pay out to $17.50.

The win was the 18th in Burning Point’s remarkable sophomore season, which has seen her miss the top three just once in 22 starts. Linda Wallis trains the winner of $447,225 for the Cuzzins Stable of Boca Raton, FL.

With three Gold Series events under her belt Burning Point has a flawless record in elimination action and a pair of Gold Final victories on her resume for a total of 275 points and a runaway lead in the division standings. The three-year-old pacing fillies have one regular season event remaining — Oct. 25 and Nov. 1 at Windsor Raceway — before heading to Mohawk Racetrack for the $300,000 Super Final on Nov. 8.

Ontario Sires Stakes action continues at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Thursday, Oct. 16 with the last Gold Series Eliminations for the talented three-year-old trotting colts, who will return one week later (Oct. 23) for their $130,000 Gold Final.
