CAMPBELLVILLE, ON — Chancey Lady delivered her fourth victory in five starts Saturday night at Mohawk Racetrack, capturing the $130,000 Gold Final for two-year-old pacing fillies.

Driver Mark MacDonald gunned the Camluck daughter out of Post 9 and sent her to the front, rolling by the quarter pole in :27. With the handicap of the outside post negated, MacDonald allowed driver Rick Zeron and Voelz Hanover to take control heading to the :56.2 half, and the fan favourites continued to lead the field through the 1:25.4 three-quarters.

Around the last turn MacDonald tipped Chancey Lady to the outside and after threatening Voelz Hanover, she simply accelerated away in the stretch to a 1:53.1 victory. Voelz Hanover settled for second, two and one-quarter lengths back, and Gold Not Silver, who started from Post 10, put forth an impressive effort to claim third prize.

An elimination winner in her Ontario Sires Stakes debut last Friday, Chancey Lady has now won three straight and four of her five lifetime starts. The 1:53.1 mile lowered the filly’s personal best by a full second.

Casie Coleman trains Chancey Lady for Burnaby, BC resident Niele Jiwan, who purchased the filly for $60,000 US from last year’s Lexington Select Yearling Sale.

In addition to the two-year-old pacing filly Gold Final, Mohawk fans were also treated to a pair of Gold Eliminations for the two-year-old trotting fillies.

Torch and driver Jody Jamieson returned to the winner’s circle after a three start absence with a 1:57.4 score in the first $52,724 elimination, hanging on to the neck victory over a charging Magical Memories and Windsun Magical. Gaelic Mistress and Its My Time rounded out the top five.

The Gold Final winner at Kawartha Downs on Aug. 7, Torch has amassed an impressive record of six wins, one second and one third in 10 starts for trainer Carl Jamieson of Princeton and his partner Ken Henwood of Mississauga. A $50,000 purchase from the 2006 Canadian Open Yearling Sale, Torch has already banked $218,824.

The other elimination saw Feels Like Magic step up to her first lifetime victory with a 1:58.1 effort. The Kadabra daughter and driver Bill O’Donnell delivered an impressive effort up the outside to reel in the pacesetters and claim the two and one-quarter victory over Delphic. Beyond Limits was four and a half lengths back in third, while Somebody To Love and favourite Thy Worthys Jwl were six lengths to the rear.

The Feels Like Magic Stable of Campbellville owns the talented young trotter, who had two seconds and one fourth to her credit heading into Saturday’s contest. Kevin O’Reilly trains Feels Like Magic, who sold for $40,000 US at the Harrisburg Yearling Sale last fall.

The top five fillies from each elimination will return to Mohawk Racetrack next Saturday, Sept. 29 for the fourth Gold Final on their freshman calendar. The line up behind the starting gate for the $130,000 contest will be as follows:
