For more than 50 years, the Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) program has produced world class horses and that excellence continues on Saturday (June 13) at Woodbine Mohawk Park when 15 Ontario-sired horses, including five O’Brien Award winners, will do battle in five stakes totaling just under $2.2 million in purses.
Three of the 10 finalists in the $1 million Pepsi North America Cup (Race 11) for sophomore pacers are Ontario-sired horses, including reigning Canadian and U.S. Horse of the Year Beau Jangles (Cattlewash–Mrs Major Hill) bred by Tara Hills Stud of Port Perry, ON. Beau Jangles, trained by Dr. Ian Moore, driven by Bob McClure and owned by the Graham Grace Stables, Kiwi Stables and Bolton Stables, is 15-for-16 lifetime with earnings of $1,842,987. Beau Jangles (above, Claus Andersen photo) will start from Post 5 a week after his only career defeat in the Cup eliminations, where he finished third.
Joining Beau Jangles in the NA Cup are both Redland Rocket Man (Bulldog Hanover–Granny Hanover), who has Post 2 and No Waitlist (Cattlewash–Walk On Air) who has Post 9.
Redland Rocket Man, who was bred by Redland Farms of Bible Hill, NS, has a record of 3-0-3 in 17 starts and career earnings of $195,705. He was fifth in this elimination. The colt is owned by his trainer, John Pentland, along with Murray Cox and Gary Volpe. He will be driven by Louis-Philippe Roy.
No Waitlist, bred by Princeton Farms of Princeton, ON is 1-4-2 in 20 lifetime starts with earnings of $192,743. He is trained by Blake MacIntosh, owned by Tim Dickieson and will be driven by Doug McNair. No Waitlist was fourth in his NA Cup elimination.
On the rest of the stakes card, there are three Ontario-sired horses in the $240,000 Goodtimes (Race 3) for 3-year-old trotting colts, three in the $215,000 Armbro Flight (Race 7) for 3-or-older female trotters, four in the $420,000 Fan Hanover (Race 10) for 3-year-old pacing fillies and two in the $320,000 Roses Are Red (Race 8) for 3-or-older female trotters.
The group is highlighted by four other O’Brien Award winners: three from 2025 and one from 2024.
A Clean Deal, Canada’s 2-year-old Pacing Filly of the Year in 2025, has Post 10 in the Fan Hanover. Stormont Beautiful, the O’Brien Award winning as Canada’s top 3-year-old Trotting Filly of 2025, also has the rail in the Armbro Flight. In that same race, Monalishi, the 2024 O’Brien Award winner as Canada’s 2-year-old Trotting Filly of the Year, has Post 2. Finally, Strobe Lite, who was voted the nation’s top 2-year-old Trotting Colt last year, has the rail in the Goodtimes.
Bred by Winbak Farm, A Clean Deal is 9-0-2 in 11 lifetime starts and sports earnings of $585,526 for owners Yolanda Fellows, Blair Corbeil, Windermere Stable and James Ross and trainer Kyle Fellows. The daughter of Cattlewash out of Ideal Talker will be driven by Doug McNair. A Clean Deal was third in her elimination, but was a winner of her $90,000 OSS Gold Leg 1 event on May 23 at Woodbine Mohawk Park. Meanwhile, trainer Jack Darling’s homebred Daya, a winner of $552,850 lifetime, has Post 8 in the Fan Hanover. Jody Jamieson will drive the daughter of Bulldog Hanover–Beach Of A Time).

Stormont Beautiful (Resolve–Stormont Fried) has earnings of $549,49 and a record of 7-9-3 in 26 career starts. A homebred owned by Stormont Meadows of Long Sault, ON, Stormont Beautiful is trained by Kevin Benn and will be driven by McClure.
Monalishi (Green Manalishi–Pretty Phylly G), is 10-6-1 in 24 career outings and has earnings of $1,008,585. The 4-year-old is trained and owned, in part, by MacIntosh and will be driven by Jamieson. Monalishi was bred by Shmuel Farhi.
Strobe Lite, bred by Glengate Farms, is a gelded son of Alarm Detector out of Shine Bright that has a record of 4-6-3 in 15 starts for trainer and co-owner Ben Baillargeon, who shares the trotter with Claude Hamel, Nunzio Vena and Glengate. He will be driven by five-time Canadian Driver of the Year James MacDonald. Strobe Lite was second in his Goodtimes elimination. He was also second in the $140,000 OSS Gold Leg 1 event on May 24 at Woodbine Mohawk Park won by his fellow Goodtimes finalist Touchedbyanangel (Archangel–Rubys Are Nice) who has Post 4 in the final for breeders and co-owner Corbeil, who shares the Kyle Fellows trainee with Yolanda Fellows, Mike McAllister and Peter Porter. Touchedbyanangel, who is 4-2-1 in 16 lifetime starts, has earnings of $296,044. The gelding will be driven by McNair in the Goodtimes.
