WINDSOR, ON — Heading into her fourth Grassroots start on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at Windsor Raceway, E Business has a solid record of three wins, three seconds and one third through 10 starts this season, but in the eyes of her owners the three-year-old pacing filly’s race record is not her most notable accomplishment.

“I love her, she is such an awesome horse. I’m not a horse person myself, but she has enabled me to get over my fear of horses,” says Peggy Koelln MacNeil. “When we go up to the barn I’ll kiss her, and she’ll put her head on my shoulder.”

The LaSalle resident’s husband Larry MacNeil and brother James Koelln of Cambridge share ownership on E Business, who will start from Post 5 in the fifth race at Windsor on Wednesday.

“I think that’s a great spot, I’m happy that she got that post,” says Koelln MacNeil. “We’re really excited about Wednesday; we don’t have to travel to the Toronto area.

“I think almost everyone we know is coming on Wednesday night,” she adds with a laugh.

After four regular season Grassroots events E Business sits just below the current cut off for the top 16. The Run The Table filly has earned 62 points from one win and one third and her owners are hoping she can add to that total on Wednesday.

“Personally I am confident that we’re going to the Grassroots Final,” says Koelln MacNeil. “They say that Run The Table horses improve with age and there’s not a doubt that’s what she’s doing.”

The full sister to $116,564 winner In High Gear was a $30,000 yearling acquisition at the 2003 Canadian Classic Yearling Sale and Koelln MacNeil gives all the credit to her brother James for the filly’s development over the last two seasons.

“She’s just a good little horse. She tries hard and she’s certainly made improvements this year,” says Koelln MacNeil. “My brother is just an awesome trainer, he’s from the old school. I’ve had a lot of people come up to me and tell me what a good trainer he is, how much knowledge he has.

“They used to write articles about my brother out west that said Koelln Cares,’ and he does. He takes the extra care and goes the extra mile,” notes the LaSalle resident of her sibling, who will also harness Armbro Cinema from Post 1 in Race 2 on behalf of Murray Cumberland of Oakville, MB.

E Business heads into Wednesday’s contest off a tough trip in the Aug. 28 Flamboro Breeders Stakes, but the MacNeil’s are confident their filly is ready to bounce back and mount a big effort at their local oval.

“I think we should be good to go,” says Koelln MacNeil.

“We’ll have a blast,” adds her husband.

E Business and her peers will add some spark to Windsor Raceway’s Wednesday evening program in Races 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, and 10, with the first race getting under way at 7:15 pm.
