CAMPBELLVILLE, ON — Reigning Gold Final winner Class Of O Nine stretched her win streak out to three with a 1:55.4 score at Mohawk Racetrack in the first of three $40,000 Gold Eliminations on Monday evening.

Starting from Post 2, the Camluck miss and driver Randy Waples took control heading to the halfway marker and cruised home three-quarter length winners in 1:55.4. Classy Lane Rose laid down an impressive :27.4 final quarter to earn the second-place share of the Gold Elimination purse for trainer Ben Wallace of Milton and his partner James Millier of Puslinch, and Jeremes Sweetheart rounded out the top three for trainer Casie Coleman’s West Wins Stable of Cambridge and Steve Calhoun of Chatham.

Milton resident Waples crafted Class Of O Nine’s third Gold Series victory for trainer Bob McIntosh of Windsor and Dwight Stacey of Mitchell. The partners also bred the filly, who boosted her season’s earnings to $105,000 with the win.

YS Gold Star picked up her second Gold Elimination trophy with a 1:55 effort in the second split. The Armbro Deuce daughter and driver Sylvain Filion also reached the front heading for the half, but never saw a challenger on their way to the two and one-half length score over Apogee Hanover and Legal Entity.

Daniel Martin conditions YS Gold Star for Yves Sarrazin of La Presentation, QC. The winner of an overnight event at Mohawk on June 20, YS Gold Star boasts a record of three wins in four starts for earnings of $58,900. After suffering early interference the filly finished fourth in the July 3 Gold Final at Flamboro Downs.

The final Gold Elimination of the evening saw Your Beautiful make a successful leap from the Grassroots to the Gold Series. The Your Nemesis daughter and Stuart Sowerby sprinted down the stretch to a two length victory in 1:55. Sauble Claire picked up second-place honours, leaving third for fan favourite Katys Jet.

Your Beautiful started her Ontario Sires Stakes career with a win in the Grassroots season opener at Hiawatha Horse Park, where she stopped the clock at 1:55.4. Trainer Stephen Gillard bred and owns the talented youngster in partnership with his wife Marilyn Gillard of Tavistock. The filly will make her bid for a Gold Final trophy from Post 6 in next Monday’s $130,000 Gold Final.
