INNISFIL, ON — In Conchnito delivered an impressive effort at Georgian Downs on Saturday night to capture his second Gold Final of the season.

The three-year-old trotting colt and driver Don McElroy sat on the outside through most of the mile as pacesetter Kings Ransom reeled off fractions of :27.2, :57 and 1:26. With track record holder Cincinnati Kid breathing down his neck, McElroy sent In Conchnito the front around the final turn and the colt responded with a gritty effort that saw him stave off Cincinnati Kid and secure the quarter length victory in 1:56.2. Kings Ransom stayed game for third in the $130,000 contest.

Bob McIntosh trains In Conchnito for his partners Dave Boyle of Bowmanville and CSX Stables of Liberty Center, OH. The La Salle resident and his longtime partners in the CSX Stables also bred the King Conch son, who achieved the $1 million milestone in earnings with the victory, the most recent in an outstanding Ontario Sires Stakes career.

As a two-year-old In Conchnito trotted to six victories, three seconds and two thirds for earnings of $516,287. This year the youngster has seven wins and five seconds to his credit through 16 starts for earnings of $495,946. Prior to last weekend’s elimination In Conchnito was tackling the top three-year-old trotters in North America in the $1 million Canadian Trotting Classic where he finished fifth, but was placed ahead to fourth.

Based on his effortless 1:57.4 elimination victory last weekend, fans sent In Conchnito off as their top choice in the Gold Final. The colt returned $3.10 to win, $2.70 to place and $2.50 to show. Cincinnati Kid, fans’ second choice, paid $3.10 and $3.50 and Kings Ransom returned $4.80 to show. The elimination winner exactor returned $18.70 and adding Kings Ransom to the mix for a triactor ticket earned fans $171.30.

The win bumped In Conchnito to the top of the Gold Series point standings and he will lead the top 10 point earners to Woodbine Racetrack on Nov. 13 where they will compete in their $300,000 Super Final.
