REXDALE, ON — Lincoln Parke got a perfect trip around Woodbine Racetrack’s seven-eighths mile oval on Saturday night to claim his first Gold Final trophy of the season and earn a berth in the lucrative Super Final two weeks from now.

Leaving from Post 3 the three-year-old pacing colt and driver Jody Jamieson positioned themselves in fourth as Isle Of Patmos zipped through fractions of :25.3, :53.4 and 1:22.3. Lincoln Parke continued to save ground on the rail as several of his peers were forced out three wide in the final turn, then circled the tiring Isle Of Patmos at the top of the stretch and cruised home to a three length victory in a personal best 1:51.

Big Bonus and Putnam Romeo closed from the back of the field to claim the second and third-place cheques in the $130,000 battle.

Trainer Carl Jamieson of Princeton, Karl Ungerman of Toronto, George Arthur Stable of Rockwood and Bradley McDonald of Beamsville share ownership on Lincoln Parke, who boasts a record of four wins, two seconds and five thirds in 20 starts this season for earnings of $240,024. A Gold Final winner as a two-year-old, the Astreos colt has amassed a total of $396,135 in two seasons of racing.

Prior to Saturday’s victory, Lincoln Parke was 16 points short of a berth in the $300,000 Super Final, sitting right behind stablemate Banner Yankee in eleventh. However, the 1:51 effort propelled the colt up the division standings into sixth and guaranteed him a berth in the lucrative Nov. 12 season finale.

Young reinsman Jody Jamieson had a hot set of hands on Saturday as the Dundas resident also piloted two-year-old pacing colt Doonbeg to a Gold Elimination victory in Race 3. From Post 5, Jamieson again sat in mid-pack with the young pacer before sending him up the outside heading past the three-quarters. Sitting third at the top of the stretch, three lengths behind pacesetter Spokesman, Doonbeg sprinted down the stretch to claim the half length victory in 1:52.4.

Fan favourite Spokesman settled for second and U Lucky Guy rounded out the top three. Impeccable, owned by Dr. Ian Moore, Campbellville, William Shearer of Bedford, NS, R G McGroup Ltd. of Bathurst, NB and David Smith of Halifax, NS, and Secluded Island also advanced to next Saturday’s $130,000 Gold Final.

James Dean trains Doonbeg for Clay Harland Horner and Scott Horner of Toronto and Stew Firlotte’s Torlando Farms Inc. of Orlando, FL. Through seven starts the Camluck son boasts an impressive record of four wins, one second and $56,706 in earnings. The young pacer will benefit from Post 5 in next weekend’s Final.

The other elimination went to division leader Alastor Hanover, who reeled off his ninth straight victory with a three length romp in 1:54.2. Don’t Make Waves and Presidential Alert trailed home behind the dominant young pacer into second and third, while Mister Big and Hunter Hylight advanced to the Gold Final with their fourth and fifth-place finishes.

Mark Ford trains Alastor Hanover for Vicki Fair of Bedford, PA. A $13,000 yearling acquisition, Alastor Hanover has earned Fair $281,210 through 13 starts. The Rustler Hanover son will start from Post 9 in next week’s Gold Final.
