ELORA, ON — Industry Day 2013 belonged to driver Doug McNair of Guelph who captured three races over the Grand River Raceway oval on Monday afternoon, including both of the day’s signature events.

McNair got his afternoon off to a positive start when he piloted three-year-old pacing filly Windsong Jacoba to victory in the first of seven Grassroots divisions. Sent off as the fan favourites from Post 4, McNair sent Windsong Jacoba to the front heading for the half and then drew away from the field to an impressive seven and one-half length victory. Their 1:54.1 clocking would prove to be the fastest of the seven Grassroots divisions.

Monday’s outing was Windsong Jacoba’s first in the Grassroots program this season. The Mach Three daughter started her season at the Gold Series level, but after success eluded the filly through the first two legs, trainer Barry Treen opted to move her down the Grassroots program for the second half of the campaign.

Rockwood resident Treen conditions Windsong Jacoba for Leonard Gamble of Etobicoke, Relatively Stable of Toronto, and breeders Charalambos Christoforou of Campbellville and William Loyens of London.

McNair made his second appearance in the Grand River Raceway winner’s circle following the $75,400 Battle of the Belles, guiding fan favourite Lady Shadow to a 1:55.4 victory. The reinsman’s father Gregg McNair of Guelph trains Lady Shadow for Lindsey and Connie Rankin of Michigan.

The McNairs were reunited in front of the grandstand following the $144,500 Battle of Waterloo as Doug McNair steered Three Of Clubs to a convincing 1:53.4 victory for his father, Tony Lawrence of Hanover, and Shady Hill Racing Stable of Durham.
