INNISFIL, ON — Over the last seven weeks Michelles Power has strung together an impressive run of lightning fast performances and Tuesday’s Gold Elimination at Georgian Downs was no exception as the three-year-old pacing filly stepped off a 1:52 track record performance.

Starting from Post 4 with regular reinsman Jody Jamieson in the race bike, Michelles Power floated off the starting gate and was sitting seventh on the outside as Stacer The Racer hit the opening quarter in :27. Luck Of Michelle took control of the race heading for the :55.1 half, and Michelles Power continued to sit near the rear of the 10 filly field, waiting until the pacesetter hit the 1:23.3 three-quarters to circle out around Simply Mavelous and take aim on the lead.

As the fillies turned for home Michelles Power was just a head behind Luck Of Michelle, and the fan favourite quickly took control of the race, then fought off a late charge from Mach You And Me to earn the neck victory in 1:52. The mile peeled three-fifths of a second off the former Georgian Downs speed tab set by Ontario Sires Stakes star Lady Dillinger in 2005.

Mach You And Me earned the runner-up’s share of the $114,250 purse, Simply Mavelous survived her first up trip to claim third, and Queen Of Royalty closed well to push pacesetter Luck Of Michelle into fifth. Only one filly was eliminated from Tuesday’s contest, so Stacer The Racer, Jans Luck, Stupid Cupid and Milliondollarsmile while join the top five finishers in the Oct. 30 Gold Final.

In 16 sophomore starts Michelles Power has now made eight appearances in the winner’s circle, with half of them coming since the beginning of September. The daughter of Camluck and $695,439 winner Michelles Jackpot recorded a personal best 1:50.1 in a division of the Sept. 2 Simcoe Stakes at Mohawk Racetrack, and has paced two more miles in 1:50 and change since then.

Trained by William Elliott for breeder Jeffrey Snyder of New York, NY, Michelles Power replicated her 1:50.1 mile in the Sept. 10 Gold Elimination at Mohawk, finished second in the final one week later and then shipped to Lexington, KY where she toured the famed Red Mile in 1:50.4 in a division of the Garnsey Memorial. Prior to Tuesday’s contest, the talented pacer was a second by a nose in the Courageous Lady at Northfield Park.

Michelles Power leads the Ontario Sires Stakes three-year-old pacing filly division with a total of 295 points earned from a flawless record of four wins in four Gold Elimination starts, and one Gold Final victory.

The fillies will battle in the last Gold Final of their career next Tuesday, Oct. 30 at Georgian Downs, with the top 10 point earners from the regular season then advancing on to the $300,000 Super Final on Nov. 10 at Woodbine Racetrack.
