INNISFIL, ON — Olly Warrawee jumped into the top three in the sophomore trotting colt standings with a Grassroots victory at Georgian Downs on Tuesday evening.
The Kadabra gelding closed out the Grassroots action with a commanding two and three-quarter length score in 2:00.2. Sylvain Filion engineered the win for trainer Richard Moreau and owners Fred Brayford of Alliston, Furious Farms of Repentigny, QC, and Ecurie JGV Enrg and Jean Mondoux of Laval, QC.
The win was Olly Warrawee’s second in Grassroots action and gives the gelding a point tally of 125 heading into the last two regular season events. The top 10 point earners advance to the Sept. 21 Grassroots Championship.
Ten races before Olly Warrawee stepped in behind the starting gate, Kinetic King opened the Grassroots show with a 1:58.2 victory in the first $11,250 division. The Ken Warkentin gelding and driver Roger Mayotte cruised home one length victors over Kdazzle and Super Duke.
Acton resident Ted Nadhazi bred, owns and trains Kinetic King, who now has three wins to his credit in 12 lifetime starts.
Creampuff Macdaddy and Crosbys Clam Bake also trotted to 1:58.2 victories in Races 6 and 10, while the other divisions were captured by Doubledown Gass in 1:59.3, Cabertoss in 2:00.4, Pounce Hanover in 1:58.3, and Tag Up And Go in 1:58.3.
The three-year-old trotting colts make their fifth regular season start at Mohawk Racetrack on Aug. 22, while Ontario Sires Stakes action returns to Georgian Downs this Saturday, Aug. 17 with the fourth Gold Series leg for the two-year-old trotting colts.
