CAMPBELLVILLE, OCT. 23, 2001 — With the season ending Super Final night less then three weeks away, sixteen three-year-old pacing fillies are set for their last Gold Series Elimination showdown on Saturday, Oct. 27 at Mohawk Racetrack.

Kevin McMaster of Guelph is hoping that a good draw for his two entries will earn him a share of the $108,474 up for grabs, and keep his fillies in good shape for $250,000 season finale.

“Both Cueless and Twin B Rosebud have drawn in the middle of the field for the Elimination,” says McMaster. “They already have spots in the Super Final on Nov. 10 and with eight in each race on Saturday, I think they should make the Series Final at Mohawk on Nov. 3.”

Run The Table daughter Cueless, owned by Clarence Varcoe of Alliston, is currently in third spot on the OSS division leader board while Dexter Nukes daughter Twin B Rosebud comes into the Elimination sitting fourth.

“I felt that Cueless was a little flat coming out of her last race. She is good soundness-wise and she is a fair leaver. She won’t get too far back,” McMaster says of the filly, who will start from Post 5 in Race 3.

“As for Twin B Rosebud, she had her best performance so far this season in her last race. I give her the nod for this weekend,” adds McMaster, who shares ownership of the three-year-old filly with David Serwatuk of Hamilton, Robin Watts of Burlington and Cesar Kowalski of Stoney Creek.

Twin B Rosebud will leave the gate in Race 8 from Post 4 and will have to contend with Gold Series division leader Northern Cameo from Post 6.

“Both of my fillies are holding their own, but there are a lot of good fillies in the division and now things are getting down to the nitty gritty,” he says. “Things are getting real and the field is pretty even, but I think that Northern Cameo and Silver Seven could do well this weekend. Silver Seven especially has really come on strong in her last few races.”

Silver Seven, owned by Longacres Ranch Ltd., Murray Cox and Sharon Cox of Rockwood and trained by young Hagerville resident Shawn Robinson, has drawn the eight-hole in Race 8.

The sophomore fillies face off in Gold Elimination action for the last time in the third and eighth races on Mohawk’s 7:40 pm program Saturday. The top five finishers from each Elimination will return to the Campbellville oval on Nov. 3 for the $100,000 Gold Final, their last regular season event.
