CAMPBELLVILLE, ON — On Monday evening Michelles Power attacked the Mohawk Racetrack surface with a high intensity performance that saw her lower the Ontario Sires Stakes record for three-year-old pacing fillies.

Leaving from Post 8 driver Jody Jamieson settled Michelles Power in seventh as Mach You And Me led the field of 10 to a :26.2 opening quarter. As Mach You And Me handed the lead off to Milliondollarsmile en route to the :54.2 half, Jamieson sent his filly up the outside and got a brief windbreak from Iola M, who popped off the rail and powered to the front before the 1:22.2 three-quarters.

Just one-quarter length behind the leader at the three-quarters, Michelles Power blew by Iola M and hit the top of the stretch two and a half lengths ahead of the field. The talented Camluck miss added another quarter length of padding to her lead before she crossed the wire in an Ontario Sires Stakes record 1:50.1.

The outstanding effort lowered the 1:50.2 mark set by Milliondollarsmile in her Canada Day Gold Final victory at Mohawk earlier this season.

Milliondollarsmile and lightly rated Queen Of Royalty, who was making her first Gold Series appearance, rounded out the top three behind Michelles Power. All 10 fillies will return to Mohawk Racetrack next Monday, Sept. 17 for the second last $130,000 Gold Final of their Ontario Sires Stakes careers.

Bill Elliott trains Michelles Power, the daughter of $695,439 winner Michelles Jackpot, for owner and breeder Jeffrey Snyder of New York, NY. Monday’s photo opportunity was the filly’s second straight appearance in Mohawk’s winner’s circle and her second straight 1:50.1 mile over the Campbellville oval. Jamieson teamed the filly to an identical clocking in a division of the Sept. 2 Simcoe Stakes.

Through 12 starts this season Michelles Power has recorded six wins, two seconds and one third for earnings of $435,883. Combined with last year’s $479,019 bankroll, the talented young pacer is just $85,098 away from cracking the million dollar mark in lifetime earnings.

Michelles Power can earn $65,000 of that with a win in next Monday’s Gold Final. Jamieson will pilot the reigning Gold Final champion from Post 2 in the $130,000 battle, with the remainder of the field lining up as follows:
