DUNDAS, ON — The talented freshman pacing fillies entertained Flamboro Downs fans on Sunday afternoon with a pair of hard fought battles to the wire in Trillium Series action.

Platinum Seelster captured the first $37,099 Trillium Series division with a quarter length decision over favourite Even Now that saw the top four fillies finish within a length of each other. With Jack Moiseyev in the race bike, Platinum Seelster did all the work on the front end, rolling through fractions of :28.1, :57.4 and 1:27.1 on her way to the 1:57.3 decision.

Alias Seelster finished three-quarters of a length back in third, while Pacific Yankee was just one length behind the leader in fourth.

Bob McIntosh trains Platinum Seelster for breeders Seelster Farms of Lucan. The Pennsylvania-sired daughter of Western Hanover has made three appearances in the winner’s circle this season and finished second twice for earnings of $41,445.

Sent off as the Flamboro fans’ second choice, Platinum Seelster returned $5.50 to win, $2.40 to place and $2.10 to show. Even Now’s runner-up effort delivered a $2.10 dividend on each place and show wager, while Alias Seelster paid $2.80 to show. The exactor returned $19.20 and the triactor was worth $49.80.

In the second Trillium Series division Sun N Sand led the field of two-year-old pacers through fractions of :28.4, 1:00 and 1:29.1, but could not hold off the fast closing Cinny Fever at the wire. After getting away last and sitting at the back of the pack through most of the race, Cinny Fever sprinted around the final turn and down the stretch to score the nose victory in 1:58.2. Pocket sitter Mustang Kensley finished well behind the leaders in third.

Rick Zeron piloted Cinny Fever to her third win of the season for trainer Mario Macri and owners Flying Colours Racing Stable of Mississauga. The Astreos daughter has three wins, including one Gold Elimination victory, one second and two thirds to her credit through nine starts for earnings of $58,896.

The top choice in Race 10, Cinny Fever returned $3.90 on each win voucher, $2.30 for a place wager and $2.10 for a show ticket. Second choice Sun N Sand delivered $2.60 to place and $2.10 to show, while third choice Mustang Kensley paid $2.20 to show. The perfectly handicapped exactor was worth $15.10 and the triactor paid $21.10.

The two-year-old pacing fillies have one Trillium Series event remaining on their schedule, Nov. 18 at Western Fair Raceway in London. Ontario Sires Stakes excitement returns to Flamboro Downs on Friday, Oct. 28 when the three-year-old trotting fillies battle in their last $130,000 Gold Final.
