ELORA, ON — Right On Molly got a new driver on Friday night at Grand River Raceway, but the two-year-old pacing filly delivered the same result, cruising to her fourth straight victory in a track record time.

With Guelph resident Doug McNair replacing usual reinsman Jody Jamieson, Right On Molly floated away from the starting gate and settled into third spot behind early pacesetter Raise Your Glass. Raise Your Glass rolled through a :27.4 opening quarter and a :57.4 half, but McNair sent the fan favourite after the lead heading down the backstretch for the second time and Right On Molly had a one length margin by the 1:26 three-quarters.

Right On Molly sprinted home to a 1:54.2 victory, peeling three-fifths of a second off the previous track record set by Mindsweeper in 2011. Pocket sitter Its No Secret finished two lengths back in second, Best Impressions was six and three-quarter lengths to the rear in third and Kamkar Kutie was another length back in fourth.

Cambridge resident Tony O’Sullivan conditions Right On Molly for Let It Ride Stables Inc. and Robert Cooper Stables LLC of Boca Raton, FL and J And T Silva Stables LLC of Long Beach, NY. The partners purchased the daughter of Stonebridge Regal and Right On from Larry and Otis Hall at the end of August.

Under the tutelage of Otis Hall Right On Molly started her career in the July 1 Grassroots season opener at Mohawk Racetrack, cruising to a 1:55.2 victory. The $5,000 yearling purchase from the Forest City Yearling Sale made the leap up to the Gold Series program in time for the second event at Rideau Carleton Raceway and captured her July 15 elimination in 1:55. Back in Ottawa for the July 22 Gold Final Right On Molly sailed home a two and three-quarter length winner in a personal best 1:53.2.

Right On Molly will be looking to prove her mettle and make it five straight victories when she lines up at the outside Post 8 in next Friday’s $130,000 Gold Final.

In the second Gold Elimination Kims Royal Day and Guelph resident Anthony MacDonald grabbed early control of the race from Post 1 and never relinquished their hold on the lead, hanging on for a head victory over Burstin Bubbles in 1:55.2. Prynne Hanover was one and three-quarter lengths back in third and Mary Celeste was one more length back in fourth. Fan favourite and Battle Of The Belles champion Macharoundtheclock made a late break and finished well back in fifth.

Cambridge resident Blake MacIntosh purchased Kims Royal Day from last fall’s Canadian Yearling Sale for a modest $1,500 and shares ownership of the filly with Stuart McIntosh of Essex.

Kims Royal Day was also victorious in eliminations of the Gold Series season opener at Mohawk Racetrack on June 28. Since then the daughter of Royal Mattjesty and Kims Caper has logged one third in elimination action and a second to Right On Molly in the Rideau Carleton Gold Final. She prepped for Friday’s test with a third-place result in an Aug. 30 overnight at Mohawk.

The winner of $59,580 will make her bid for a Gold Final title from Post 6 in next week’s $130,000 contest.
