DRESDEN, ON — Dresden Raceway wraps up another outstanding season on Sunday afternoon with an exciting program on and off the racetrack.

The historic half-mile oval will celebrate the Ontario Sires Stakes program’s 30th birthday with cake for all fans and an opportunity for 100 fans in their thirties to pop a balloon and win terrific prizes from betting and food certificates to a 27 inch television. On track, the Ontario Sires Stakes program’s premiere division, the three-year-old pacing colts, will keep fans of all ages entertained in seven Grassroots events, while Tom Joy, Robert Chapple and Jamie Snelgrove are honoured with Memorial races.

All of the top three-year-old pacing colts are headed for Dresden to defend their spot in the top 16, including Peter Core’s Bringhomethemoney, who will start from Post 3 in Race 15. The Bo Knows Jate son heads into Sunday’s battle off an impressive third-place finish in an Invitation event at Woodstock Raceway on Sept. 20 which was clocked in 1:55.3.

“He’s a nice little colt, and he’s been racing good for us,” says co-owner Raymond Core of Wyoming. “We were expecting him to pace a mile like that. He’d been racing about that speed, or at least showing signs that he could.”

Core shares ownership on the gelding with breeders Bri Pat Investments Ltd. of Forest, trainer-driver Peter Core of Wyoming and Ronald Bailey of St. Marys. Through four Grassroots starts Bringhomethemoney has posted two victories, one third and one fourth-place finish to earn a total of 120 points and sole possession of sixth-place in the division standings.

“He’s up there in the top 10 or so,” says Core. “So we hope that he’ll be in the Semifinal. We’re looking forward to that.”

The top 16 point earners qualify for the Oct. 26 Semifinal at Flamboro Downs and when the 2003 schedule was unveiled Bringhomethemoney’s connections were pleased to see the post season battles would be fought on a half-mile rather than a five-eighths mile racetrack this year.

“He’s not very big and I think the half-mile is the only place for a horse his size,” notes Core. “He’s a nice, steady little horse.”

Bringhomethemoney will face off against a field of seven on Sunday that includes Trinket Island from Post 1, a two-time Grassroots starter sitting on the fringe of the top 16.

Dresden Raceway fans will be watching Race 13 carefully as division leaders Tigerama and Kurt Rustler go head-to-head for the first time. Tigerama, who captured the 1:55.3 Invitation at Woodstock, will start from Post 5 for owner-breeder Robert Hamather of Exeter, while Kurt Rustler will try and leap frog to the top of the division from Post 6 for trainer Benoit Baillargeon of Rockwood and his partners Tremblay Holdings Inc. of Brossard, QC and Les Ecuries Sarah of Laval, QC.

Dresden Raceway’s final racing program of the season gets under way at 1 pm, with the three-year-old pacing colts heating things up in Races 6, 8, 10, 12, 13, 14 and 15.
