CAMPBELLVILLE, ON — The favourites were relegated to second spot in both the two-year-old trotting filly Gold Final and Consolation at Mohawk Racetrack on Thursday night.

In the Consolation fan favourite Aimees Image failed to fire from Post 4 and trotted under the wire six and one half lengths behind victor Nomireatras. In rein to Chris Christoforou for the first time Nomireatras tucked in behind pacesetter No Chatting and Aimees Image, sitting patiently through fractions of :28.3, :59 and 1:29 before pulling off the rail and powering off to the impressive 1:59.2 victory. Morning Dream was 13 lengths back in third.

Trainer Osvaldo Formia of Delray Beach, FL and his partner John Brown of Glastonbury, CT share ownership on Mr Lavec daughter Nomireatras, who pushed her earnings to $76,653 and shaved a full two seconds off her personal best with the win.

Four races later the freshman trotting fillies treated fans to a hair raising finish when pacesetter and Elimination winner Snazzy Millie went off stride at the top of the stretch leaving the fillies behind her scrambling to find a clear path to the finish line. When the dust settled it was clear that the contenders were the other elimination winners Wanabeamillionaire and For The Luva Moni and the duo battled tirelessly down the stretch until Wanabeamillionaire stretched her head out at the wire to score the 1:59.4 victory.

Armbro Amaze and Zoboomafoo were just a hair apart in third and fourth, with Snazzy Millie fading all the way back to eighth.

Robert Waxman of Ancaster owns Wanabeamillionaire, who overcame Post 8 to score her first Gold Final victory and improve her record to three wins and three thirds in 11 starts and $110,004 in earnings. The win also allowed Waxman to move the daughter of Mr Lavec and Next Victom over to the profit side of his book keeping ledger. The long time owner purchased the filly for $87,000 at last fall’s Forest City Yearling Sale.

The top 10 point earners will now return to Mohawk Racetrack on Saturday, Nov. 16 for their $300,000 Super Final, one of eight Gold Series Championships the Campbellville oval will host.
