FRASERVILLE, ON — Yellow Diamond’s resume is impressive, and on Tuesday night at Kawartha Downs the three-year-old pacing filly added a Gold Final to the list of stakes events she has captured this season.

Starting from the advantageous Post 1 in the $170,000 Gold Final, driver Mark MacDonald sent the filly straight to the font. The pair marched along through fractions of :29, :58, 1:26.1 and then sprinted home to the 1:53.1 victory. Yellow Diamond’s stablemates in the Tracy Brainard barn, Shacked Up and Coming Late, finished one half length and four lengths to the rear in second and third. Brainard trainee Cheap Motel and John Pentland trainee Northern Duchess rounded out the field.

Brainard trains Yellow Diamond for breeders Bulletproof Enterprises of Boca Raton, FL. Through 15 starts the Western Terror daughter has eight wins, two seconds and four thirds for earnings of $659,867.

Among the stakes events that Yellow Diamond has captured since her January debut are the Tender Loving Care Series Final and the Tarport Hap at The Meadowlands, the James Lynch Pace at Pocono Downs, a Gold Elimination at Georgian Downs, and a Fan Hanover Elimination at Mohawk Racetrack. The daughter of $160,926 winner Mattatonic, who has produced three other horses with earnings over $200,000, finished second in the Fan Hanover Final, second in the Mistletoe Shalee at The Meadowlands and third in the Standardbred Breeders of Ontario Association Stake at Mohawk.

The three-year-old pacing fillies will make the last Gold Series stops of their career at Mohawk and Woodbine Racetracks on Oct. 2 and 9. The top 10 point earners from the five race regular season will then advance to the $300,000 Super Final at Woodbine on Nov. 14.

Ontario Sires Stakes excitement returns to Kawartha Downs on Saturday, Oct. 3 with Gold Eliminations for the gifted three-year-old trotting fillies.
