MILTON, July 11, 2023 – Bettor Sisters won the second race tonight at Woodbine Mohawk Park, a $100,400 Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) Gold division for two-year-old pacing fillies.

Jody Jamieson kept Bettor Sisters (Bettors Delight) off the pace set by leader Century Kalimba (Sportswriter) and driver Travis Cullen, through fractions of 27.3, 56.3, and 1:24.4.

In the backstretch, Bettor Sisters overtook Century Kalimba, and This Magic Moment (Big Jim) driven by James MacDonald, challenged Century Kalimba in the battle for second.

But, Bettor Sisters proved too strong, crossing the wire first at 1:53.2.

“She was very impressive, I didn’t know if I was going to have to move her to the lead or how it was going to go but it worked out,” said Jamieson. “I got back to the lead pretty easily, and at the head of the stretch she just took off again.”

The Bettors Delight filly earned her first OSS Gold win of her career.

Trainer Daniel Lagace touched on Bettor Sisters win.

“She did everything right, she did it all easy, but I mean to beat these horses you have to be good,” said Lagace.

Lagace is co-owner with Big Als Stables.

Runner-up Century Kalimba is trained by Jodie Cullen and co-owned by John Collings, and Tommy Collings.

This Magic Moment is a half-sister to OSS star Prohibition Legal (Big Jim) and trained by Nick Gallucci.

The Big Jim filly is owned by Millar Farms.

Bettor Sisters Gold win paid $6.60.

For her first OSS win, Bettor Sisters collected $50,200 in earnings.

“It was pretty successful, and I was really happy with her,” says Jamieson.

In race six, the second OSS Gold division of the night, has Pass Line (All Bets Off) with her fourth straight win in her OSS debut.
