GLOUCESTER, ON — Sno Doubt About It stepped off the fastest mile in four Trillium Series divisions at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Friday evening.

Sent off as the heavy favourite in Race 3, the two-year-old trotting filly did not disappoint her fans. Leaving from Post 6 with Rideau regular Darrell Coville in the race bike, Sno Doubt About It went straight to the front and never had to glance over her shoulder as she reeled off fractions of :30.1, 1:02.3 and 1:32 en route to the five and a half length victory in 2:02.2.

Ross Henry trainees Lemehavit and Chelemark Spring were second and third across the wire in the $18,216 contest.

Wayne Bloomfield of Kerwood trains Sno Doubt About It for Talbot Creek Farms of Shedden. The Balanced Image lass was a $21,000 acquisition at last fall’s Forest City Sale.

Local filly Ifhallscouldtalk, owned by Ottawa’s Melvin Hartman, captured the second Trillium division by bobbing her nose in front of favourite Emerald Tortilla at the wire. The Angus Hall filly and driver Sylvain Filion stalked pacesetter Wild Wack Woman throughout the mile then outsprinted Emerald Tortilla and Northern Fuchsia to the wire to score the 2:05.1 victory.

Rene Laarman trains Ifhallscouldtalk, who was a $42,000 US purchase at the Harrisburg, PA sale last November.

In the third division Hall of Fame driver Ron Waples employed a similar stalking style to engineer a 2:05.1 victory for Incredible Iam. Waples and the Incredible Abe daughter hit the wire just one-quarter length in front of J Cs Charm. Zorgwijk Empress, owned by Richard Sullivan of Greely and driver Jacques Beaudoin of Manotick, recovered from an early miscue to pick up the third-place finisher’s share.

Incredible Iam is owned by breeder Giuseppe Serratore of Woodbridge and Catherine Stewart of Campbellville and trained by Kevin Davidson.

The final division went to John Bax trainee Trendy Girl and Stephen Byron who shadowed pacesetter Lifetime Beauty through sedate fractions of :32.1, 1:05.3 and 1:37.2 before powering off to a two length win in 2:08.4. Lifetime Beauty finished second and Super Trot, owned by Michael Larkin of Ottawa, was third. Al Libfeld of Pickering, Marvin Katz of Toronto and Sam Goldband of Toronto bred and own Trendy Girl, who went off as the longest shot in the race.

Ontario’s talented two-year-old trotting fillies return to Rideau Carleton Raceway on Sunday, July 13 for their first Gold Series event, while those opting for the Grassroots program head to Kawartha Downs on July 12. They will not match wits against their American-bred counterparts in the second of three Trillium events until Oct. 4 at Georgian Downs.
