Twin B Mayreau and Money Carlo were the winners of their respective $100,000 Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) Leg 2 divisions for 2-year-old pacing fillies on Sunday (July 19) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
It was repeat Gold victories for both Twin B Mayreau and Money Carlo, who also won their Leg 1 OSS Gold tests in the division on July 3 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
On Sunday, in the first division (race 2), 1-5 favourite Twin B Mayreau (above, Tyler Jones) posted a wire-to-wire 1:52.1 victory in the field of six to remain undefeated through two career starts, both OSS Gold events.
Jones had Twin B Mayreau firing out of post 6 and on top early, followed by Lyons Flurry (Louis-Philippe Roy), Twin B Copacabana (Mark MacDonald) and Jersey Bulldog (Bob McClure). That remained the order through the :28.1 opening quarter and the :57.1 half before McClure made his move with Jersey Bulldog heading toward the three-quarter pole reached in 1:24.1.
Twin B Mayreau dug in and held off Jersey Bulldog by a half-length to pay $2.60 for the win. Lyons Flurry was third, followed by Twin B Copacabana and Watchmeparty (Trevor Henry) in that order.
Twin B Mayreau is a daughter of Cattlewash out of Olivia Mcskywalker bred by Jenna McNiven of Embro, ON, owned by Ecurie Csi of Sorel-Tracy, QC and trained by Francis Dumouchel.
“She’s always been a nice filly, but she’s never been one that really stood out,” Dumouchel told WEG broadcaster John Rallis. “She never did anything wrong, but until they hit the races, you don’t know how much speed they have. She’s a sweetheart in the barn, but sometimes those sweethearts in the barn, they don’t have that fight in the race. But turns out she does.”
Sold for $47,000 at the 2025 London Classic Yearling Sale, Twin B Mayreau has already earned $100,000.
Money Carlo (Bob McClure) also remained undefeated through two OSS Gold starts after winning her $100,000 division for 2-year-old pacing fillies on Sunday (July 19) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
In the second division (race 7), 9-5 second choice Money Carlo (McClure) dug deep in the stretch to hold off a game Waves Of Fortune (Mark MacDonald) by a half-length in a career-best 1:51.1 to remain undefeated through two career starts.
It was Waves Of Fortune that led the field through the opening quarter in :27.4 in the field of seven. McClure had Money Carlo out and rolling soon after and was on top through the :55.4 half and the 1:23.3 three-quarters. In the lane Money Carlo looked to pull away, but MacDonald mounted a serious charge with Waves Of Fortune.
“[Money Carlo] just fights really hard,” McClure said. “She’s got a lot of class… she just digs right to the wire. And she’s very smart in the race. Once you get everything settled, she knows what her job is, and so far she’s doing a great job at it.”
Qued Up was third, followed by Charolais Cattle (Roy) and Rhymes With Regina (Jody Jamieson).
Money Carlo paid $5.60 to win.
A daughter of Bulldog Hanover out of Shes Some Treasure, Money Carlo is owned by Brad Grant of Milton, ON and trained by Dr. Ian Moore. The filly was bred by Steve Jones and sold for $175,000 U.S. at the 2025 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale. Money Carlo has earned $100,000 lifetime.
“Brad Grant, a proud local owner, bought her and another filly at Lexington sale last fall,” Moore said. “He called me up and said, ‘I hope you have some room for them and I said, ‘We sure do.’ It’s the first time I’ve had horses for Brad and it’s nice to have some success with [Money Carlo]. She has a stablemate that is training back now. We had to stop with her a little bit. She’s a pretty nice filly also. So, we’re looking forward to her coming on later in the summer.”
Grassroots Results
There were also four $30,000 OSS Grassroots divisions for 2-year-old pacing fillies on Sunday’s Woodbine Mohawk Park card.
The winners were:
- Silk Lace (Cattlewash—Lasting Appeal) in a career-best 1:53.1 for breeders Robert McIntosh Stables and Al McIntosh, owner/trainer Carl Jamieson and his ownership partners 1140545 Ontario Ltd. and Siara Jamieson and driver Jody Jamieson.
- Diamondsbestfriend (Bulldog Hanover—Yellow Diamond) in 1:53 for breeders Steve Jones and Fair Winds Farm Inc., owner/trainer Jack Darling and driver Jody Jamieson. Diamondsbestfriend was purchased for $107,000 U.S. at the 2025 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale.
- Lyons Bulldog (Bulldog Hanover—Ava Hanover) in a career-best 1:52.2 for breeder Vieux Carre Farms, owner Threelyonsracing, trainer Dr. Ian Moore and driver Mark MacDonald. Lyons Bulldog was purchased for $31,000 U.S. at the 2025 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale.
- In This Moment (Control The Moment—Amulet Seelster) broke her maiden in 1:53.3 for breeder, owner and trainer Zach Carroll and driver Louis-Philippe Roy.
