WINDSOR, ON — Caught My Eye pushed her win streak to four with an impressive victory in Gold Elimination action at Windsor Raceway on Sunday evening.

The two-year-old trotting filly and Hall of Fame horseman Bill O’Donnell took command of the race just past the :28.3 opening quarter and cruised effortlessly through fractions of 1:00.1 and 1:30.2 before accelerating down the stretch to a three and one-quarter length victory in 2:00. Fiona Kemp and J M Aggie trailed in to be second and third behind the reigning Gold Final champ.

Frank O’Reilly trains Caught My Eye for his partners John Ferguson of Windsor and John Fielding of Toronto. The trio acquired the daughter of Angus Hall and Lookin At You Babe for $55,000 at last fall’s Forest City Yearling Sale and are already well in the black after just four weeks of racing.

Caught My Eye qualified twice in June, once at Mohawk Racetrack and once at Grand River Raceway, before making the trip north to Sudbury Downs for a Trillium Series event on June 24. The talented young trotter posted a three length win in 2:07.4 at Sudbury, then shifted her focus to the Gold Series at Flamboro Downs on July 1 where she was a 2:03.1 winner in her elimination. Back at Flamboro for the July 8 Gold Final, Caught My Eye delivered an impressive effort to reel in Tymal Timeout and claim the 2:00.1 victory.

The fillies will have an opportunity to renew their rivalry in next Sunday’s Gold Final, as Tymal Timeout was also a Gold Final winner, in an identical 2:00. Trainer Wayne Henry piloted the daughter of Royal Strength and Lukes Elvira to the one and one-quarter length victory over Corporate Girl and the fast closing Constance Hall.

The Henry Stable of Arthur and Daniel McCann of Parkhill share ownership on Tymal Timeout, a full sister to $172,707 winner Lookit they acquired for $21,000 at the Forest City Sale. Like Caught My Eye, Tymal Timeout started her career with wins in the Trillium Series and Gold Elimination, before settling for second in the July 8 Gold Final.

The final $33,857 Gold Elimination went to Disco Inferno, who went gate-to-wire in 2:01.1. Trainer Carl Jamieson drove the filly to her first lifetime victory for his partner, and the filly’s breeder, Dr. Robert Boyce of London.

A half-sister to $205,040 winner Bebop, Disco Inferno finished sixth in her July 1 Gold Elimination at Flamboro Downs, performing well below Jamieson’s expectations. The Princeton resident sent the daughter of Striking Sahbra and Dixieland Jazz back into the fray in a July 8 overnight at Flamboro and Disco Inferno delivered a runner-up performance more in line with what her owners had anticipated in the Gold event.

Pondo Holly and Delcrestclassyhall rounded out the top three behind Disco Inferno.
