Fresh off winning seven Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) events on Sunday (July 19), Jody Jamieson piloted both victors in the $100,000 OSS Gold Leg 2 divisions for 2-year-old trotting fillies on Thursday (July 23) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Jamieson also shares ownership of both Gold winners – Treasure King and Major Contender – with his father, Hall of Famer Carl Jamieson, who also trains both King Of The North fillies.
In the first division (race 3), Treasure King (above) posted a 30-1 upset, defeating Leg 1 Gold winner Queen Of Bs (James MacDonald) by a neck in a career best 1:55.2.
The longest shot in the field of eight, Treasure King (out of Vanity Treasure) sat patiently near the back of the pack as Stormont Magenta (Mark MacDonald) led the group through fractions of :27.4, :57.2 and 1:26.2 with Queen Of Bs on her back. In the stretch, Jamieson had Treasure King on the move, passing three horses and coming home in :28 to break her maiden in just her third lifetime start.
On July 5, in her first Gold test of the year, Treasure King was fifth in the division won by Verily.
“She wasn’t quite as good her first start,” Jody told Woodbine broadcaster John Rallis. “She was off her feed that week, but had no temperature, so we were able to race her. She was fifth in that first Gold and I knew she had more to offer. I knew that if I got a trip like this, and she came off a helmet, she always tries hard. She never really has been tired in a race.”
Northern Song (Bob McClure) was third, followed by R Rosie (Doug McNair) and Rebel Moon (Trevor Henry).
Treasure King was purchased by the Jamiesons for $42,000 U.S. at the 2025 Standardbred Horse Sales Company yearling sale in Harrisburg, PA.
“Dad and I are our only partners on her,” Jody said. “We couldn’t find a partner for her all winter, but, here we are in the winner’s circle for a Gold. So, we’re pretty happy.”
The trotter is now 1-1-0 in three starts and has earnings of $58,134.
Treasure King paid $62.50 to win.
In the second division (race 9), 8-5 favourite Major Contender sat near the back through the early going, crept up to third by the head of the lane and swept past Cold Breeze (MacDonald) and Twin B Kingsley (Henry) in the stretch to win by three lengths over another closer, Song From Heaven (Tyler Borth), in 1:54.4.
Twin B Kingsley led the field of eight through fractions of :27.3, :57.1 and 1:26, with Jody remaining patient with Major Contender.
Simea (McClure), who was in the hunt most of the mile, was third, followed, in order, by Northernlights Glo (Mark MacDonald) and Cold Breeze.
Major Contender paid $5.20.

“[Major Contender] has been a perfect filly from the day she came home,” Jody said. “The people that sold her to us, I called them and asked them if she was maybe broke before they put her through the sale because she was so smart and she’s been so smart and I think that’s a trait with really good horses is that they’re really smart. I’m really hoping that she’s a really good horse.”
Major Contender broke her maiden in her second career start. She now sports earnings of $66,008 and a record of 1-1-0 for her trainer and driver, plus Dave Lemon of London, ON and George Harrison of England.
Out of Major Muscle, Major Contender was bred by Princeton Farms Inc of Princeton, ON, Mark Etsell of Rockwood, ON, Robert Newton of Walkerton, ON and Chuan Tan of Cambridge, ON. The trotter was purchased for $110,000 U.S. at the 2025 Standardbred Horse Sales Company yearling sale in Harrisburg, PA.
“We all want to give a shout out to Dave and Mary Lemon who are here tonight,” Jody said. “[My dad and I] didn’t have any partners on this horse, and we paid $110,000 U.S., which was a big bite for us. We usually don’t do that, but Dave and Mary jumped in along with George Harrison, with dad and I to be partners. So, we really appreciate them, and you know, we’re paying that back. The filly’s going to pay it back so far.”
Grassroots Results
There were also four $30,000 OSS Grassroots divisions for 2-year-old trotting fillies on Thursday’s Woodbine Mohawk Park card.

- Houstonweavaproblm (Muscle Mass—Melanie G) in a career-record equalling 1:57 for breeder Thierry Vandenplas, owners Duncan Brewer, Randell Urquhart and Steve Deady, trainer Mark Etsell and driver Tyler Jones. Houstonweavaproblm was purchased for $25,000 at the 2025 London Classic Yearling Sale.
- Green Silverado (Green Manalishi S—Little Red Chev) in 1:57.3 for breeders Dennis Morrissey and David Peden, owner/trainer Matthew and his ownership partner Roy Trelford, and driver James MacDonald. Green Silverado was purchased for $22,000 at the 2025 London Classic Yearling Sale.
- Dromoland Castle (Muscle Mass—Pacific Edge) broke her maiden in 1:57.3 in her pari-mutuel debut for breeder Pheasant Hill Farm, owner/trainer/driver Mark Etsell and his ownership partner Harbor Racing Stable. Dromoland Castle was purchased for $130,000 U.S. at the 2025 Standardbred Horse Sale Company yearling sale in Harrisburg, PA.
- Elusive Station (King Of The North—Elegant Mermaid) broke her maiden in 1:57.3 in her pari-mutuel debut for breeder Spring Station Bloodstock, owner James Crawford, trainer Chantel Mitchell and driver Louis-Philippe Roy. Elusive Station was purchased for $25,000 U.S. at the 2025 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale.
