CAMPBELLVILLE, ON — Moving Pictures posted the biggest win of her career on Saturday night at Mohawk Racetrack, capturing the $130,000 Gold Final in a personal best 1:53.2.

The three-year-old pacing filly and driver Mark MacDonald laid off the pace through most of the mile as pacesetter and fan favourite Red Star Biggirl took the field through fractions of :27, :56.1 and 1:24. Moving toward the half, MacDonald sent the D M Dilinger daughter up the outside behind In Trepid Water and Even Now.

As Red Star Biggirl began to falter around the final turn, the fillies were lined up behind her like eagles sighting prey. Four fillies thundered by the pacesetter in the stretch and when the dust settled Moving Pictures had been awarded her first Gold Series trophy.

Beechwood Duchess was one-half length back in second and In Trepid Water and Stonebridge Luau were just three-quarters of a length back in third and fourth.

Steve Calhoun and Michael Lindley of Chatham share ownership on Moving Pictures and Casie Coleman trains the filly, who boasts a record of three wins, four seconds and four thirds in 21 starts this season for earnings of $134,522.

Before Moving Pictures and her peers brought the Mohawk fans to their feet in the fifth race, three divisions of two-year-old pacing colts battled in Gold Elimination action.

The aptly named Twin B Survivor claimed his third elimination trophy with an impressive effort from the outside Post 9 in the first race. The Apaches Fame son and driver Paul MacDonell circled from sixth at three-quarters to claim the two and three-quarter length victory in 1:52.3. Kaos Agent and Funny Bones rounded out the top three in the first $37,975 elimination.

Jack Darling of Cambridge trains and shares ownership on Twin B Survivor with Daniel Smith of London. The partners acquired Twin B Survivor at last fall’s Forest City Yearling Sale for $37,000 and have watched the young pacer bank $121,875 through 10 starts.

Sipwiththepres paced to an identical 1:52.3 victory in the second elimination, holding off a hard closing Test Flight to claim the quarter length victory. Domitian Hanover earned the third-place finisher’s share, five lengths behind the leaders.

Mark Austin trains Sipwiththepres for owner and breeder Michael Cecile of Windsor. Saturday’s victory was the Presidential Ball son’s third in seven starts, but his first in Gold Series action. Regular reinsman Rick Zeron engineered the win, which carved two seconds off the colt’s personal best.

The other elimination went to Sergei Seelster and Mark MacDonald, who also stopped the teletimer at 1:52.3. One-quarter length separated Sergei Seelster from runner-up Au Revoir Ace, while favourite Semalu Express and Gold Comet were two more lengths back in third and fourth.

Gary Smith of Burlington and Lloyd Nicholson of Campbellville share ownership on Sergei Seelster, who was also a Gold Elimination winner at Flamboro Downs on Aug. 13. The Rustler Hanover gelding has four wins and one second under his belt through nine starts and will benefit from Post 2 in next Saturday’s $130,000 Gold Final.

The top three finishers and lucky fourth-place finisher Gold Comet will battle in the last $130,00 Gold Final on their freshman schedule next Saturday, Sept. 30 at Mohawk Racetrack, lining up across the seven-eighths oval as follows:
