GLOUCESTER, ON — Tymal Trinity and Daniel Clements donned their wet suits and sloshed around the Rideau Carleton Raceway oval on Thursday evening to claim their first Gold Elimination victory.

Over a rain soaked track rated three seconds slower than normal, Tymal Trinity and Clements took quick command of the $101,481 race from Post 1 and never faced a serious challenge through fractions of :29.3, :59.3 and 1:28.2.

Heading down the stretch pocket sitter Michelles Power and Sylvain Filion made up some ground on the pacesetters, but they were still three-quarters of a length back when Tymal Trinity and Clements hit the wire in 1:57.3.

Luck Of Michelle’s flawless Gold Series record came to a halt as the Camluck miss and driver Mike Saftic spent the mile mired on the outside from Post 8 and finished five lengths back in third.

Since making a victorious debut in a June 27 overnight event at Grand River Raceway the filly has posted a record of three wins, three seconds and two thirds in 10 starts for earnings of $122,931.

The young pacer was second to Luck Of Michelle in the Sept. 15 Gold Elimination at Mohawk Racetrack, but made a late break in stride in the Sept. 22 Final to knock herself out of contention.

Rideau Carleton Raceway fans correctly selected the top three finishers in the Gold Elimination, but they had them in reverse order so third choice Tymal Trinity returned $9.30 to win, $3.90 to place and $3.10 to show. Second choice Michelles Power paid $3.30 on a place ticket and $2.40 on a show wager and favourite Luck Of Michelle delivered a $2.10 show pay out. The exactor was worth $28.90 and the 1 – 2 – 8 triactor paid $89.50.

All nine contestants in Thursday’s Gold Elimination are eligible to return to Rideau Carleton Raceway next Thursday, Oct. 5 for the last Gold Final on the freshman pacing filly schedule. After that the top 10 point earners from the regular season will make their way to Woodbine Racetrack on Oct. 14 for their $300,000 Super Final.
