DUNDAS, ON — Oaklea Omega posted the quickest of two Trillium Series divisions and Emmamazing rang one up for the local team, as Flamboro Downs wrapped up its 2006 Ontario Sires Stakes season Saturday afternoon.

With leading driver Mark MacDonald in the race bike, three-year-old trotting filly Emmamazing took full advantage of Post 1 in the second $33,096 Trillium battle. The Mr Lavec filly sprinted to the front and never faced a challenge as she cruised through fractions of :29, :59.3 and 1:29 on her way to the 1:59.1 victory.

Spare Time Rozie closed well to finish second, two and one-quarter lengths back of the winner, and Oaklea Odessa recovered from an early break and a tough trip up the outside to hang on for third.

The win was the second this season for Emmamazing who is owned by trainer Don LeBlanc and Wayne Moriarity of Burlington, Raymond Perry of Waterdown and Kevin Perry of Bolton. Through 16 starts the filly boasts a record of two wins, three second and two thirds for earnings of $55,282.

In the first division Oaklea Omega overcame the outside Post 8 to record a 1:58.4 score. With Paul MacDonell in the race bike, Oaklea Omega powered off the wings and was sitting third on the outside behind Taylorlane Crush when that filly hit the quarter in :28.4. Once Taylorlane Crush cleared to the front, MacDonell was quick to follow and Oaklea Omega hit the halfway marker on top by two and a half lengths in :58.1.

MacDonell and the Balanced Image miss had a one and three-quarter length margin when they hit the three-quarters in 1:28.4, and although Taylorlane Crush did her best to reel the pacesetter in, Oaklea Omega stayed game for the half length victory. Taylorlane Crush finished second and Solange Kosmos was six lengths behind the leaders in third.

John Bax trains Oaklea Omega for his partners Brilo Farms of Sharon, Glenn Van Camp of Port Perry and Venture K Stable of Little Britain. The Peterborough resident said there has been a great deal of interest in the winner of $369,822 as a future broodmare prospect, and she will likely wrap up her racing career in the coming weeks.

The three-year-old trotting fillies have one Trillium Series event remaining on their 2006 calendar, Nov. 18 at Woodbine Racetrack, and fans will also catch many of them in action at Woodbine on Nov. 3 in eliminations for the Ontario Standardbred Breeders Stake.

After an exceptional season that saw Ontario Sires Stakes competitors establish four new track and OSS speed records, Flamboro Downs fans will have wonderful memories to hold them through the winter months until the provincial program makes returns to the Dundas oval in 2007.
