OSS sustaining payment deadlines extended

In response to the current suspension of live Standardbred racing due to the provincial stay-at-home order, Ontario Racing has announced that 2021 Ontario Sires Stakes sustaining payment deadlines for both two and three-year-olds will be extended by one month.

The deadline to sustain three-year-olds (foals of 2018) to the 2021 Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) program will be extended from February 15 to March 15. The deadline to sustain two-year-olds (foals of 2019) to the OSS program will be extended from March 15 to April 15. Sustaining payment forms will be sent to the owner of record at the time of mailing and can be downloaded from the OSS website here.

The late nomination deadline for two-year-olds (foals of 2019) which were not nominated to the program as yearlings will not be extended and remains March 15. In addition, the yearling nomination deadline for foals of 2020 remains May 17.

Stallion registration deadline extended

Due the challenges resulting from COVID-19, the deadline for enrolling stallions in the 2021 Ontario Sires Stakes program is being extended to Friday, Jan. 22, 2021.

To avoid late fees, registrations (forms and payment) must be postmarked by Jan. 22. Alternately, forms can be emailed to ossprogram@ontarioracing.com or faxed to 416-477-5499 with corresponding payments made by credit card prior to 4 p.m. EST on Friday, Jan. 22, 2021.  Please call 416-477-5529 to make a credit card payment.

This extension applies to 2021 only, in future years the deadline will be Jan. 15.

Super Final reservations open Tuesday at 4 pm

Owners wishing to attend the Super Finals at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday, Oct. 17 can begin making reservations for a table in the Mohawk Harvest Kitchen or a spot on the tarmac on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 4 pm.

Reservations are first come, first served in each area. If all slots are not filled by Thursday, Oct. 15 at 4 pm reservations will open to the general public.

To reserve a table in the Mohawk Harvest Kitchen please email tmckelvie@woodbine.com. Please include full name, email address, telephone number and name of horse. Maximum reservation is four people.

To reserve a spot on the tarmac please click here. Initial sign-up will be limited to one owner and one guest, but additional guests will be accommodated as space permits. Please indicate the number of additional guests desired on the online form. Face masks are required and space on the tarmac is outdoors so please come prepared for the October weather.

Date change for freshman trotting colt Gold leg

Due to recent changes in the Flamboro Downs schedule, the Gold Series Leg for the two-year-old trotting colts originally slated for Wednesday, Oct. 7 has been moved forward one day to Thursday, Oct. 8 at the Dundas half-mile.

The draw for the rescheduled Gold leg will be completed on Monday, Oct. 5, with the box closing at 10 am. Post time for the Thursday, Oct. 8 event remains 6:35 pm.

The Thursday, Oct. 8 Gold Series leg at Flamboro Downs will wrap up the two-year-old trotting colts’ regular season. The top 10 point earners from the five regular season legs will then advance to the Oct. 17 Super Final.

2020 Starting Fee Reminder

The 2020 Starting Fee amounts are:

GOLD: $800 ( $620 USD )

GRASSROOTS: $350 ( $280 USD )

PROSPECT SERIES: $100 ( $85 USD )

Starting fees are due in the race office one half hour prior to post time and can be paid by cheque payable  to “ONTARIO SIRES STAKES”, Visa or MasterCard.

2020 Banking Authorization Notice

Ownership groups with horses participating in the 2020 Ontario Sires Stakes program who want their purse cheques issued with “or” between payee names are required to have a Banking Authorization Notice on file before purse funds can be disbursed.

Every member of the ownership group is required to sign the Banking Authorization Notice and provide clear copies of two forms of identification, including one with a signature. Acceptable forms of identification include Drivers Licence, AGCO Licence, or Passport.

By signing the Banking Authorization Notice, the ownership group enables Ontario Racing to disburse any Program cheques payable to the group in the following manner:

All cheques will be created with “or” between the partnership names. This will allow any of the owners to cash the cheque without the others’ signatures. The cheque will be mailed to the first owner listed.
