INNISFIL, ON — Deweykeepumnwhy stormed to an impressive victory in Grassroots action at Georgian Downs on Tuesday evening, becoming the fastest two-year-old trotting gelding ever to circle the Innisfil oval with his 1:57.4 clocking.

Starting from Post 6, driver Jody Jamieson settled Deweykeepumnwhy in fourth spot on the rail and watched favourite Harper Blue Chip reach the opening quarter in :29.4, then hand things over to Corsair Hall for the :59.1 half. En route to the 1:28.4 three-quarters Jamieson shifted his mount to the outside and Deweykeepumnwhy rocketed home to a half-length victory in a record setting 1:57.4.

Ronald Parsons conditions Deweykeepumnwhy for Norah Parks of New Lowell, ON. The Deweycheatumnhowe son started his Ontario Sires Stakes campaign at the Gold Series level, finishing tenth in the July 4 season opener at Mohawk Racetrack and third in the July 22 test at Grand River Raceway before Parsons and Parks opted for the successful change in strategy.

Driver Jamieson, who makes his home in Moffat, ON, made a second appearance in the winner’s circle following the tenth race. The reinsman combined with Murray Brethour trainee Theresademoninme for a 2:01.4 score, giving the Kadabra colt one first, one second and one third through the first three Grassroots events. Sunderland, ON resident Brethour trains the colt for Douglas Millard of Woodstock, ON.

The other Grassroots divisions were captured by Strike It Big (2:00.1); Pasadena Star (1:59.2); Yoooukilis (2:02); Hetties Commander (2:02.2); Blackjack Spur (2:02); Whichamacallit (2:00.2); and Solar Son (2:02.1). The two-year-old trotting colts make their fourth Grassroots start at Mohawk Racetrack on August 18.

Ontario Sires Stakes action makes its next appearance at Georgian Downs on Tuesday, Aug. 6 with the fourth Grassroots event for the two-year-old trotting fillies.
