The series, which is in its eighth year, is now open to both Ontario Sired and/or Bred horses. There are no nominating or starting fees.

Owners of Ontario Bred horses now have additional opportunities to receive a return on their investment. For the first time, the $1.42 million Harvest Series at Woodbine Mohawk Park is open to both 2- and 3-year-old Ontario Sired and Ontario Bred horses.

Ontario Bred horses are those whose dam was properly enrolled in the Standardbred Improvement Program’s (SIP) Ontario Resident Mare Program (ORMP) for the 2023 or 2024 foaling year, regardless of whether their sire stood in Ontario or elsewhere. Eligible Ontario Sired horses are those by a stallion registered with the SIP for the 2022 or 2023 breeding year.

The Harvest Series, which debuted in 2018, has no nominating or sustaining fees.

“We are excited about this additional opportunity for those horses born and raised in Ontario that were sired by stallions standing here or in other jurisdictions,” said Standardbred Breeders of Ontario (SBOA) president and SIP Committee member Stephen Palermo. “It’s just another great reason for Ontario breeders to keep their mares at home and produce foals in the province. The improvements to the Harvest Series adds value to both Ontario Sired and Ontario Bred horses and enhances the benefits of breeding and racing in Ontario.”

The series is in addition to the $16.6 million Ontario Sires Stakes program open to registered Ontario Sired horses.

The Harvest Series begins on Oct. 12 for 2-year-olds and extends into November.

Each of the four 2-year-old Harvest Series divisions will feature two $25,000 legs and a $60,000 final and are open to registered Ontario Sired or Ontario Bred horses that are Non-Winners of $30,000 in 2026 as of midnight on Sept. 30. There are no allowances on earnings.

There are two levels of competition for the 3-year-old divisions.

The first level, featuring two $25,000 legs and a $60,000 final in each of the four 3-year-old divisions, is open to registered Ontario Sired or Ontario Bred horses that are Non-Winners of $60,000 lifetime or Non-Winners of $30,000 in 2026 (minimum five starts) as of midnight on Sept. 30. There are no allowances on earnings. Also eligible: Claiming $30,000.

The second level, featuring one $35,000 leg and a $100,000 final in each of the four sophomore divisions, is open to registered Ontario Sired or Ontario Bred horses that are Non-Winners of $150,000 in 2026 as of midnight Sept. 30. There are no allowances on earnings. Also eligible: Claiming $100,000.

Declarations for each element of the series will close as posted on Woodbine Mohawk Park’s weekly condition sheet.
