WINDSOR, ON — The freshman trotting fillies wrapped up their provincial season over a sloppy oval at Windsor Raceway on Sunday evening, but the connections of Youre Still Theone and Ldees Creditreport were smiling in spite of the rain.
In the first $35,097 Trillium split, trainer Wayne Henry engineered a four and a half length score for Youre Still Theone. The SJs Caviar daughter took command of the race just past the :29.1 opening quarter and proceeded to pull away from the field with each step, ringing up fractions of 1:01 and 1:31.4 along the way.
Zorgwijk Java and Youre Still Theone’s stablemate Napanee Seelster rounded out the top three in the 2:02.2 mile.
Wayne Henry conditions Youre Still Theone for his partners in the Henry Stable of Arthur, Daniel McCann of Parkhill and Ron and Liz Waples of Guelph. Through 12 starts the filly has amassed four wins, one second and one third for earnings of $51,845. Sunday’s win was Youre Still Theone’s fourth straight; her late season win streak got under way with a 2:03.1 score in overnight action at Flamboro Downs on Oct. 20 and also included a Trillium victory at Western Fair Raceway last weekend.
Although he had hoped to pick up a second Trillium trophy at Windsor on Sunday, Henry and Daylon Mystique had to settle for the runner-up spot behind Ldees Creditreport.
Mr. OSS’ Dave Wall piloted Ldees Creditreport, sitting fourth on the rail through much of the mile while Oaklea Rae clocked fractions of :30, 1:01.2 and 1:31.3. Wall shifted Ldees Creditreport into gear at the top of the stretch and the Credit Winner daughter powered home to a one and one-quarter length victory.
Daylon Mystique and Friendly Amigo also reeled in the pacesetter to earn second and third-place honours in the $35,097 contest.
The 2:01.2 victory marked the third time Ldees Creditreport has graced an Ontario winner’s circle this season. Through nine starts the filly posted a record of three wins, one second and one third for earnings of $43,317 on behalf of trainer Ira Fisher and owner Ely Iversen of Moffat. Ldees Creditreport also earned a Trillium victory at Georgian Downs on Sept. 20, but made an unfortunate break in the Nov. 22 contest at Western Fair Raceway and was unable to record the triple.
Sunday’s contest wrapped up the 2008 Ontario Sires Stakes season, which saw provincial competitors match or better a total of eight speed records. Windsor Raceway fans were treated to seven outstanding performances by the top trotters and pacers in the province, including the outstanding three-year-old trotting colts and pacing colts.
